Call for Papers

Abstract submissions are now closed. We are currently accepting papers from authors with accepted abstracts. 

The ICS2024 Scientific Program Committee invites researchers, academics, and industry professionals to submit papers  for The 17th International Coastal Symposium (ICS2024) to be held from 24 – 27 September 2024 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, Doha, Qatar.

Theme: Coastlines under Global Change

The Symposium embraces a broad spectrum of subthemes, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of coastal issues and solutions. We invite authors to contribute by submitting their original research papers, case studies, and reviews in alignment with the Symposium subthemes:

  • Coastal Management, Policy and Planning

  • Coastal and Marine Engineering

  • Decarbonization of Marine and Maritime Industry

  • Climate Change and Sea-Level Rise

  • Coastal Evolution and Shoreline Change

  • Coastal Geology and Geomorphology

  • Hydrodynamics and Modeling

  • GIS and Remote Sensing

  • Coastal Hazards and Extreme Storms

  • Coastal Biology and Ecology

  • Rivers and Estuaries

  • Beaches, Dunes and Coasts

  • Coastal Tourism

  • Shelf Seas, Lagoons and Oceanography

  • Ports and Inlets

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Abstract Submission:

  • Submissions are only accepted through our online abstracts and paper management system which is accessible through the following link: https://ics2024.exordo.com/

  • Please adhere to the abstract submission guidelines : download here.

  • Authors have the option to select either an oral presentation or a poster presentation, however, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to make the final decision concerning the form of presentation.

    2. Notification of Acceptance:

  • Authors were notified of abstract acceptance by 31 March 2024.

  • Upon acceptance, authors received guidelines for the preparation and submission of full papers via email.

    3. Full Paper Submission:

  • Full papers should be submitted via our online abstracts and paper management system, once abstracts are accepted we will start to accept paper submissions.

  • Ensure that your paper adheres to the Paper Template, please download the examples available below:

  • Please fill into the template your individual paper's: title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author's email address, abstract, text, figures, and tables. You will also fill in the author names and abbreviated title in the header of the document (using the templates as a guide). Anything that is highlighted in yellow on the templates is not to be altered. Those parameters are for editorial staff only. Your final proceedings paper(s) must match the formatting style of the provided templates and not exceed five pages in length.

  • Once you have formatted your paper(s) properly, please email the MS WORD file to us at: cerf.jcr@gmail.com. Once received, your paper(s) will go through a final review and either be complete or will be returned to you for additional revisions. You will then be directed to submit on the Ex Ordo platform.     4. Review Process: ​

  • All submissions will undergo a rigorous 2 stage peer-review process.

  • Criteria for evaluation include originality, significance, methodology, and clarity.

Publication Opportunity:

Accepted papers will be will be featured in a dedicated Special Issue of the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR), a renowned and peer-reviewed journal dedicated to coastal and marine science.

Upon acceptance of the abstract, a full paper must be submitted as per the timeline and guidelines (template) provided on the website. In order for a paper to be published as part of the ICS2024 Proceedings, at least one of the authors must be a registered delegate of the ICS2024. A registered individual of the ICS2024 may publish a maximum of two papers. After the two-paper limit, at least one of the additional co-authors of the accepted paper must also be a registered individual of the ICS2024.
