Countdown to ICS2024
Welcome to the 17th International Coastal Symposium
(ICS2024)
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the International Coastal Symposium (ICS2024), held from September 24 – 27, 2024 at the Sheraton Grand Resort & Convention Hotel in Doha, Qatar. The theme for ICS2024 is:
Coastlines under Global Change
The International Coastal Symposium (ICS) is currently celebrating its 17th edition and 34th anniversary. This meeting in particular will be making a historic milestone. For the very first time, the ICS will take place in the Middle East, with Doha, Qatar, as its distinguished host. Notably, Doha had the honor of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022, further highlighting its global appeal.
The ICS2024 will be hosted by the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), which is recognized for its student-centered learning and state-of-the-art facilities. It is also home to the UNESCO Chair in TVET and Sustainable Development and host of Qatar’s UNESCO-UNEVOC Centre.
The ICS brings together delegates from all over the world to collaborate and discuss the most current coastal research studies and projects. The proceedings of the conference are published as peer-reviewed papers in the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR), which represents an invaluable resource for coastal scientists, engineers, managers, and researchers.
We welcome you all and look forward to seeing everyone in Doha for ICS2024.
About UDST

Its world-renowned faculty and researchers work on developing the students’ skills and help raise well-equipped graduates who are proudly serving different sectors of the economy and contributing to the achievement of human, social and economic development goals nationally and internationally.
About CERF and JCR
The Journal of Coastal Research (JCR) is one of the leading peer-reviewed international journals for coastal studies and is officially published bi-monthly by the Coastal Education and Research Foundation (CERF). By covering the entire field of coastal research [e.g., geology, biology, ecology, geomorphology, physical geography, climate change, littoral oceanography, hydrography, sea-level change, coastal hydraulics, environmental (resource) management (law), coastal engineering, remote sensing, socio-economic topics, etc.], the JCR encompasses all subjects relevant to natural and engineered environments (freshwater, brackish, or marine) and the protection/management of their resources in the vicinity of coastlines of the world. Even though the journal broadly focuses on immediate shoreline zones, the JCR also embraces those coastal environments that either reach some indefinite distance inland or that extend seaward beyond the outer margins of the sublittoral (neritic) zone. The JCR disseminates accurate information to both the public and research specialists around the world on all aspects of coastal issues in an effort to maintain or improve the quality of our planet's shoreline resources.
